Setup password recovery

Setup password recovery

A very important part of the InterformNG2 configuration is to setup the password recovery. It is highly recommended to setup InterformNG2 as below in order cover scenarios, where a user has forgotten the password and no administrator is able to sign on either.

It is possible to recover from a forgotten password in multiple ways as described in the section,

One of the options is to click the Forgot password link on the sign on screen:

Then you are prompted for the user for which you want to recover the password:

This will request an email with a password recovery email.

There are two prerequisites for that:
  1. You need to setup an email server and a reset link in the InterformNG2 system administration.
  2. You also need to assign an email address for the InterformNG2 users, that should be able to use this.
Below each of these prerequisites are covered.

In order for the Forgot password link to work we need to setup an email server and a link for the email recovery.
For that we need to sign on to InterformNG2 as a system administrator. This is covered in this section of the manual.

Then you select Settings and General settings in the top ribbon followed by E-mail Server on the left:

Here you enter the settings for your email server. Below the email configuration you can send test emails to ensure, that the email server configuration works.

A part of the email server configuration is the reset link:

Here you need to enter the link for the InterformNG2 installation. You should NOT use 127.0.0.1, but exchange that for the IP-address or host name of the server on which InterformNG2 is running. If you have setup InterformNG2 to use a different port number than 8086, then this other port number should be used.

Assign an email address to an InterformNG2 user

The user need to sign on in order to assign an email address. One way to assign an email address to a user is to state this email address, when the user is created in InterformNG2.
Only the user himself/herself can set that up for an existing user as described here. After signing on the user need to click the round icon on the top right:
And then this drop down list is shown:

Now the user need to click 'Change Email' and then the email can be setup or changed:
